Hello! My name is Zachary C. Fonder. I’m a dedicated lighting professional based in Chicago, IL. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from The Theatre School at DePaul University in June of 2024. I’m passionate about storytelling through worldbuilding and bringing light into those spaces. Exploring how light sculpts and manipulates our perception of reality is my fascination.
I’ve worked in a wide array of performance spaces, from Broadway scale proscenium stages, 10,000 seat capacity ampitheaters, to twenty seat black boxes. When I’m not out on the road as a freelance touring LD, I’m a lighting operator at Teatro ZinZanni Chicago, where I execute the design for a range of circus, aerial, and comedy acts. When I’m not behind a lighting console I can be found at home refining my gaming skills or camping in the woods somewhere.
